About Val Boyes
I've loved art as long as I can remember. I decided to be a fine arts major in college at the University of Illinois, and took all the fundamental drawing, painting, and art history classes that I could. After two years, I decided to move to California and changed my major to graphic design. I ended up getting a BFA in graphic design at Cal State Fullerton. I spent years freelancing for apparel companies designing logos, t-shirt design, and marketing materials. I have 5 kids and my years doing art ebbed and flowed during those years. By the time my youngest was starting kindergarten, all I could think about was painting, and I've been painting ever since. I started with acrylics and moved to oils. Sometimes I still do acrylics because I love the ability to layer quickly and approach my work with a more graphic direction. Painting feeds my soul, it gives me peace. I hope to paint until I am an old, old woman. Right now I mostly paint landscapes, because I love the colors, light and composition of nature, but I also love painting room interiors, an occasional abstract and I'm working on florals and figures. I hope you find something in my art that draws you in.
I accept a limited number of commissions throughout the year. You can email me at moitoistudio@gmail.com if you're interested in being added to my commission list.
